Overview of Dive Mergui Archipelago – 6 Days / 5 Nights by MV Thai Sea

Discover the world-famous sites of Mergui Archipelago on MV Thai Sea to have the greatest holiday opportunity.Our liveaboard cruise will start from Kawthaung closed to the border town Kanong in Thailand, about 300 km north of Phuket. This route is the best and only direct access point to the Mergui Archipelago islands.

Day 1 (Departure):

You’ll meet at the Dive Shop in Ranong at 12.00. Prepare your rental equipment before boarding MV Thai Sea. Thai immigration process will be completed here before starting sailing. You will cruise to Kawthaung to get your visa for Burma and visit permission for the archipelago. Officers will come on board to check whether all papers are in order or not. After all the administration part you will start for a safe and secure journey. Enjoy the sunset from the boat before dinner while cruising.

Day 2:

Today you will visit High Rock or rocky point full of macro life. Here, you will spot rays & cobia hiding in the coral, as well as Pipefish, Pineapple Fish, Frogfish, Sea Horses and Nudibranchs playing underwater. You will find one of the recently discovered dive sites shown by your guide, which is a popular home to white tip sharks or nurse sharks. Take a night dive around Spanish garden, a residence of many Spanish dancers.

Day 3:

On this day you will take 3 dives at 3 sites around Shark Cave to discover the underwater kingdom. After second dive, visit one of the wonderful beaches around this Archipelago to get some sand between your toes. During these two dives you will luckily spot Manta Ray, Eagle Ray, Whale Shark, Grey Reef Shark, Nurse Shark and big blotched sting ray, etc. You will also see other small creatures such as ghost pipe fish, harlequin shrimps, frog fish, seahorse and gorgeous coral playing everywhere. You will take night dive at your favourite one of the three dive sites to enjoy an thrilling time. See shrimps everywhere, and don’t miss Spanish dancers & other big nudibranchs frequently found here.

Day 4:

Today you will dive around North Twin and have a chance to spot Manta Ray, Eagle Ray, Whale Shark, Grey Reef Shark, Nurse Shark, Zebra Shark and giant Sea Fans…

Day 5:

Today you will take the funniest dives, the first one of these is around Seafan Forest, a magnificent dive site with exotic giant seafans. You have a chance to spot big whale sharks. And you can do another dive here or take the next 3 dives around Western Rocky, one of the splendid dive sites in Myanmar. One of the attractions is a tunnel going all the way through the island occupied by a lot of lobsters. You will also see Bowmouth Guitar Fish, Nurse Shark, Grey reef shark, Cuttlefishes, Harlequin Shrimps, Frogfish, Sea Horses…

Day 6:

The dive of the day is around a dead volcano where you will see a group of black tip sharks hanging together. You will also notice seahorse (up to 10 per dive), shaded bat fish, comet long fins or pinneaple fish, etc. After last dive, return to Kawthaung to discover the market or have the crew’s hospitality with a beer in the local pub. After getting your passport back by the Burmese authorities, you will cruise back to Thailand to get immigration pass.

Note: Schedule and Itinerary depends on the weather/sea conditions and the discretion of the Cruise Director & Captain. It also depends on currents, dive sites activities, light, objective, sailing times etc. The spots are possible, but not guaranteed.

The itineraries include dives deeper than 18 meters. If you want to do these dives and are not yet certified for it, we will ask you to take a diving course on-board at minimum the adventure deep dive training for 1000thb.
