Overview of Mergui Archipelago Cruise – 7 days by MV Sea Gipsy

Discover the islands of Mergui Archipelago on MV Sea Gipsy to enjoy the scenic beauty of nature and exciting diving among the amusing marine life & untouched coral reefs.

Our liveaboard cruise will start from Kawthaung closed to the border town Kanong in Thailand, about 300 km north of Phuket. This is the best route and only direct access point to the Mergui Archipelago.

Day 1 – Departure Day: Kawthaung – The Three Islets

You’ll meet your Guide/Tour at the Myoma Pier/Jetty in Kawthaung to start your tour. At around 12.00pm (12.00 noon) you will depart for the Three Islets. If you inform us in advance transfers from the airport to Kawthaung or Ranong can be organized. You will have enough time to see the town if you arrive earlier on that day. Our guide will help you in enjoying some sightseeing around the whole area. You will visit the Pyi Daw Aye Pagoda with outstanding view of Kawthaung, stroll through the bustling market and walk along the coastline of the notable Victoria Point. Today your tour will finish with a walk through the fishermen settlement. Or you’ll find a teashop to observe the goings on the waterfront.  At around 11.30am (11.30 hrs) you will return to the pier to board MV Sea Gipsy. You will find a lot of space on the deck to relax and enjoy the exciting cruise. After a short briefing about tour safety, you can enjoy the idyllic beauty of the Andaman Sea. Dinner will be served on board while cruising to your first island.

Day 2 – 115 Island / The Three Islets – Bo Cho Island

You will wake up early in the morning to enjoy the magnificent views of the Three Islands or just to have a funny splash into the crystal clean water before breakfast. After having breakfast, you will swim or snorkel among a lot of fish and have a great experience to remember. You will take a canoe to go to a small but wonderful cave. Late morning you will follow your guide through the tropical jungle to the other side of island. Here you will also find a small beach which can contain a lot of shells washed up from the ocean. After returning to MV Sea Gipsy, you will sail to Nyaung Wee Island where there is a small but nice village named Salone (Monken) to visit. After lunch on board, you will sail to the further north and arrive at Bo Cho Island to visit a large Sea Gipsy Village. Before visiting the village, you will be prepared to get surrounded by kids and take some candies from the boat or bring some gifts. While walking through the whole village, you will visit the Pagoda located on the hill. After your visit to Pagoda, you will come back to MV Sea Gipsy to have some refreshment. You can also relax by observing fishermen returning home on their small boats. After that MV Sea Gipsy will sail to Lampi Island where you will pass your night. If time and tide is favourable, you will visit the mangrove forest closely or go night fishing with your crew. Have dinner on board.

Day 3: Bo Cho Island – Lampi Island – Tar Yar Island – Ko Phawt Island

Early in the morning you will sail to Lampi Island, one of Myanmar National Parks. After visiting lagoon by kayak and exploring the ancient mangrove forest at the southern part of Lampi Island, you will return to MV Sea Gipsy to take some rest. MV Sea Gipsy will cruise to Tar Yar Island where you will take kayak and be ready for a long tour across 4km long tidal river. Follow the small & narrow river that will lead you to the heart of the island. Be prepared to see noisy monkeys while looking for food, colourful bird species, lizards as well as a great variety of flora and fauna in this amusing area. The outstanding views and the sweet sounds of this rainforest will remind you of the scenes seen in the movie ‘Jurassic Park’.
You will close this romantic day with a relaxing drink and enjoying sunset while sailing to the shore of Ko Phawt Island. Take dinner and stay overnight in a secure bay nearby Ko Phawt Island.

Day 4: Ko Phawt Island – Sa Let Ga Let Island

After having breakfast, take a refreshing plunge into the crystal clear water enclosing MV Sea Gipsy. Before visiting Ko Phawt Island, you will learn more from your guide about trees, herbs and wildlife around this island. The stunning view of this huge island will make you curious about the life of islanders with nature. After having a delicious lunch, you will visit this island to know the inhabitants and mingle with them. You obviously take some of the ancient spear fishing techniques or take paddling in one of their traditional kayaks made of a single trunk. Come back to MV Sea Gispy to relax and cruise to Sa Let Ga Let Island. Dinner and stay overnight in a secure bay nearby Sa Let Ga Let Island.

Day 5: Sa Let Ga Let Island – Wa Ale Island – Pilar Island

This morning you have free time to enjoy yourself. Catch some fish with your crew for dinner. You’ll relax on deck while sailing to the attractive Wa Ale Island. On the remaining part of the day, either take sea kayak to cross the bay to a small island or go for a ramble with your guide through the mangroves to the other side of the island to enjoy the attractive views. Explore various kinds of corals and fish found underwater around this island by snorkelling or even scuba diving. (Scuba diving needs to be booked in advanced). Late afternoon you’ll sail to Pilar Island to stay overnight in a secured bay.

Day 6: Pilar Island – High Rock(Hlaing Gu Island) – Zar Det Nge Island – Salon Island

After having breakfast, you will restart your journey through the Mergui Archipelago to High Rock (Hlaing Gu Island). High Rock is an excellent site for enjoying dives, various types of corals and marine life full of large schools of fish. Also, feel delighted in kayaking around this small island/rock. Discover some sunny beaches to take a sunbath on one of them. After sunbath you will return to MV Sea Gipsy to have an appealing lunch. In the afternoon, you will relax and enjoy fresh sea breeze while sailing to Zar Det Nge Island for some more snorkelling and kayaking. You will continue your journey to Salon Island to visit some local fishing vessels for purchasing fresh seafood for famous BBQ Dinner. Stay overnight at Salon Island.

Day 7: Salon Island – Kawthaung

Wake up early in the morning to take a last refreshing splash in the ocean. After having breakfast, you will sail back to Kawthaung. Debark MV Sea Gipsy to continue your journey.

Remarks: The program will be changed depending the flight time, the departure and arrival time.

Note:  Schedule and Itinerary depends on the weather/sea conditions and the discretion of the Cruise Director & Captain. It also depends on currents, dive sites activities, light, objective, sailing times etc. The spots are possible, but not guaranteed.
